It
is simply undeniable. John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo prove once and
for all their chemistry in their first movie team up, A Very Special Love.
Overall, the romance-drama established a promising love team, plus
affirms John Lloyd’s status as a versatile dramatic actor and Sarah as
a future movie darling. With
her expertise in doing romantic films, director Cathy Garcia-Molina,
has indeed made another box-office hit. Rated A by the Cinema
Evaluation Board, A Very Special Love succeeds in entertaining
the viewer, without any dragging moment or boring dialogues. More
importantly, the movie succeeds in sending the right message; that a
very special love, which is an unconditional love, does exist. The
movie revolves around two people with extreme characters: Adelaida
"Laida" Magdalas (Sarah), a girl with a bubbly personality, who grew up
in a simple yet loving family; and Miggy Montenegro(John Lloyd), a
slave-driving boss, who turns out to be a man driven to prove himself
to win his family’s respect and affection. Intent in helping her
family, Laida seeks and fortunately lands what she thought is a dream
job – as an editorial assistant in a publishing company owned by the
young Montenegro. Laida believes that it is destiny now that she works
for Miggy, the man of her dreams. She finds out later that her "prince
charming" is actually a heartless monster and Laida becomes set in
bringing out the best in him. The
movie is rich with "kilig" moments between John Lloyd and Sarah. The
dialogues are short and full of humor, a clear message that they don’t
need to be lengthy to send the right one. The scenes are so effective
that the two lead stars only need to look at each other to infect you
with that tickled pink feeling. John Lloyd’s acting is a little edgier,
starting off as the bad guy, as opposed to his usual good characters.
This goes to show how he has matured as a serious actor. On the other
hand, the screen seems to light up every time Sarah appears. Her
positive vibe and innate goodness definitely will rub off on every one
who watches the movie. If you’re looking for a feel good movie, then don’t miss A Very Special Love showing in theaters today, July 30.
