PrincessHours Make way for royalty! One of South Korea’s top rating series for 2006 is about to make waves on Philippine television starting on December 18. Princess Hours, touted as a breakthrough in K-dramas features the life of the Korean nobility in a way never before done on the small screen. Filipino Koreanovela fans will surely fall for Princess Hours touching and very kilig love story.

Princess Hours’ huge success is greatly placed on the series’ inventive story line, the exquisite cinematography and fresh young cast which featured breakout stars Ju Ji Hoon (Gian), Yoon Eun Hae (Janelle), Song Ji Hyo (Monique) and Kim Jeung Hun (Troy). The K-drama was so popular, that the series was extended to 24 episodes from its original 20.

With elaborate costumes and historical locations, the ‘fairy tale’ unfolds with Gian, the crown prince of Korea, whose world unexpectedly collides with commoner, Janelle. Because of the emperor’s sickly state, the royalty hustles into finding the prince a bride, bringing out the long kept secret of an arranged marriage between the grandchildren of the former emperor and his best friend, who turns out to be Janelle’s grandfather. When Gian’s girlfriend, ballerina Monique rejects his marriage proposal, he accepts Janelle as his wife, to teach the royal family a lesson. Things get a bit more complicated though with the return of Gian’s cousin, former crown prince of Korea, Troy and his mother, to the country. With Gian’s father succeeding the throne after his older brother’s death, rules of the nobility sent Troy and his mom to exile in London. Upon his return, not only does he want his birthright back but his cousin’s bride as well.

A drama that will surely endear Koreanovela fans of all ages. Catch Princess Hours this December 18 on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block.

Janelle (Yoon Eun Hye) is a design major in a school for the arts. Simple yet silly at times, she mostly gets into trouble at school for wearing her track pants under her uniform. She’s really friendly to everyone but dislikes the crown prince at sight, probably because of his indifferent manner. Chae-Gyung gets the shock of her life when she discovers that she has to marry the crown prince at the age of 17. To save her family from bankruptcy, she agrees but not without a struggle.

Gian (Ju Ji Hoon) is the crown prince of Korea -- handsome, intelligent and bored. He’s irritated with the stifling rules in the palace and is instead intent on going to film school to become a director. He was at first amused with his bride, Janelle, with whom he has had run-ins at school. Shin soon finds her child-like ways endearing, teaching him that there is life inside and outside the constricting walls of the palace.

Troy (Kim Jeung Hun), is the exiled crown prince of Korea, living abroad because of a supposed rule that no two princes can live in the same palace. He returns to the country to attend the wedding of his cousin, Gian. Living as an ordinary person in London, Troy takes to the young bride, who was having an awkward time adjusting to palace life. At first he was content on being in the side lines but when he realized Janelle was supposed to be his wife, he goes to great lengths to pursue his mother’s dream for him – to become Korea’s emperor.

Monique (Song Ji Hyo) is the lead ballerina in Janelle's art school, who’s trying her darn best to get into the most prestigious ballet school abroad. Monique is envied by every one in art school. She has the beauty, the brains, the talent and most of all she’s the girlfriend of Korea’s crown prince Shin. Her ambition to become prima ballerina makes her decline Shin’s marriage proposal but in the end realizes that she may have made the wrong decision.
