 In 1954, Francisco V, Coching amazed the country by creating Pedro Penduko through LiwaywayMagazine. In 1973, Celso Ad Castillo translated the Komiks version into film and gave us Ang Mahiwagang Daigdig ni Pedro Penduko, with a formidable cast that included Ramon Zamora, Jeanne Young, Lotis Key, Panchito Alba, and Eddie Garcia. J. Erastheo Navoa revived our superhero by doing Ang Pagbabalik ni Pedro Penduko for Viva Films in 1994 and it showcased young stars Janno Gibbs, Vina Morales, Donita Rose, and funny man Arnel Ignacio. In 2000, Janno returned to the big screen as Pedro in Erik Matti’s Pedro Penduko, Episode II: Return of the Comeback. Now, ABS-CBN faces the challenge of re-introducing to the Filipino family the well loved tale of Pedro the story teller and his quest in Komiks Presents: The Adventures of Pedro Penduko.
Matt Evans of Pinoy Big Brother fame will be the new generation Pedro Penduko in this extremely exciting and extra ordinary fantaserye. Not only will he be the one to revive this all-Filipino superhero, he is also backed by an stellar cast that includes Albert Martinez, Agot Isidro, Melissa Ricks, Bembol Roco, TJ Trinidad, Kitkat, Deejay Durano, Olyn Membian and Ms. Gloria Romero. Jerome Pobocan, Don Santos and Trina Dayrit will share the directing duties on the series. The story stays true to the original yet is given a new and more sophisticated look.
