Mike gets booted out of the basketball varsity team after he lost another championship game. Worse, Fritzie breaks up with him for she refuses to be linked with a loser. As such, Mike becomes more determined than ever to win his slot back since not only his pride and passion lay on the line but also his relationship with “Ms. Popular”.

Though his basketball coach wasn’t eager to trust his rusty skills again, Mike continues to beg for another chance. Luckily for him, an opportunity to make a comeback in the team arrives when the coach had enough on teaching the lazy airheads in his P.E. class. He told him that Mike can join the team again if he succeeds in teaching the four mean girls how to play basketball and to win a game against the better players of his class.

One of the failing students happens to be Demi. She was once a nobody who harbored a hidden attraction towards Mike even before he became a famous school jock. Back then, Demi asked Fritzie to act as a bridge between her and Mike. Unfortunately, Fritzie betrayed their friendship by telling the guy she was the one who wrote Demi's love letters! Traumatized by the experience, she gave Mike hell as he acted as substitute teacher for them to pass the subject.

A major confrontation between them however leads to Demi’s emotional outburst about the past. Mike learns that the love letters that made him fall for Fritzie were from Demi all along. Coupled with the realization that Fritzie’s nothing but a superficial gal, he begins to see Demi in a new light.

By the end of the semester, the girls pass their P.E. class with flying colors while Mike gets the chance to become a varsity player again. This time however, he turns down the offer so he can focus on his studies for his last year in college. At the same time, he begs off when Fritzie tries to reconcile with him because finally, he found his one true love in the arms of Demi.
