Finally, the controversial host of Wowowee can now breathe a sigh of relief. After more than a year of battling on the trial court, the Department of Justice officially dumped the case that was filed against Willie Revillame by his former wife Liza Almoro last October 26, 2007! On August 26, 2006, Liza filed an affidavit stating how he had violated Republic Act 9262 or the anti-violence law after a heated marital argument which resulted to an alleged aggressive fit on Willie’s part. Also included on her statement was how the latter allegedly hurt their child in the process thus, indicting him of child abuse. In this exclusive report of The Buzz, Willie’s legal counsel Atty. Raymund Fortun relayed how ecstatic the former was upon receiving the great news as early as October 30. It was certainly a relief to be able to prove his client’s innocence, knowing the diffficulties that Willie went through with all the false accusations that he had to face. Atty. Fortun further clarified that they were able to provide credible witnesses including four household helpers and a driver who testified that Willie is not a wife-beater. On the contrary, it was always his client who’s being judged wrongly by most people. As such, he recounted Willie’s happiness for the favorable outcome of this matter. The Buzz tried to get hold of Liza Almoro’s side of the story, but their camp decided not to comment anymore about the said issue. However, it leaked on the media how their family felt bad about being the last ones to know about it. For this, Atty. Fortun asserted that there’s nothing wrong if it was really Willie who conveyed the news to the local press since he is a public personality and a member of the media after all. |
