Bandila Soars in the 2007 International Emmy Awards!

bandilaemmys.jpgABS-CBN's late night news program, Bandila, got nominated in the news category of the prestigious International Emmy Awards, a first in Philippine newscasting history! The show got nominated for its "The Subic Rape Case Promulgation", after three rounds of judging by over 500 judges from 35 countries, beating around 800 entries worldwide!

For the much-coveted award, "Bandila" will be competing against entries from the UK (Channel 4 News), Brazil (Globo TV) and Romania (Pro TV). "Bandila" is anchored by top journalists Korina Sanchez, Ces Drilon, and Henry Omaga-Diaz, each bringing 20 or more years of broadcast journalism experience into the show.

"The 2007 nominees are a testimony of international television news organizations which now reach a standard of excellence," says Bruce Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. "The International Academy takes enormous pride in saluting the work of these outstanding news organizations and journalists from Asia, Europe, and South America," he adds.

The primetime teleserye, "Sa Piling Mo", starring Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual and "Super Inggo", starring Makisig Morales and Jairus Aquino, also emerged as a regional semi-finalist in the drama series category, while the evening news program, "TV Patrol World", anchored by Ted Failon, Karen Davila and Julius Babao, became a semi-finalist in the news category.

Winners will be announced at the awarding ceremony on September 24, at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City.
