Charice Pempengco, a finalist of Little Big Star, will now look at internet technology with so much gratitude. The 14-year old singing wonder gets offered with a recording contract by a Swedish recording company after seeing a video of her performance in Little Big Star on YouTube.
Charice, together with Star Records Managing Director Annabelle Regalado-Borja, had just returned from Stockholm, Sweden when they met with the press to share their wonderful and exciting experience. For over two weeks in June, Charice made her demo recordings made up of six songs, comprising three originals entitled "All The Money In The World," "Born To Love You Forever," and "It Can Only Get Better." The demo recording also included Charice's endearing renditions of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston, "Stay" by Shakespeare's Sisters, and "Running Up The Hill" by Kate Bush. The song "I Will Always Love You" was one of Charice's winning pieces when she joined the first season of Little Big Star at the age of 12 and landed in the third place during the show's finals. Before answering some pressing questions from the reporters, Charice sang a couple of songs included in her demo recording. The young belter first sang her signature song, "I Will Always Love You," and one original entitled "Born To Love You Forever." After her much applauded performance, Charice started sharing her unforgettable experience in the European country. When asked how she felt when she first heard the news about an international recording company interested in producing her, the junior diva could only cry out of being too overwhelmed by the golden opportunity. It was when Charice was in the recording studio in Stockholm when she realized that her dreams were slowly coming to life. In spite of the long flight and freezing climate which caused Charice occasional nosebleeds, the newly hailed pride of the Philippines gave her best during the recording. Many singers have dreamt of breaking into the international arena, but only few have actually made it. Now, Charice is blessed with the opportunity to introduce to the world the talent of the Filipinos. Ms. Annabelle accomodated the reporters's queries on how Charice was actually discovered and the status of her contract with the Swedish company. According to Ms. Annabelle, they received a call from a certain Adis Adamson from Ten Songs Productions, a recording company from Sweden. Ten Songs Productions were then currently looking for fresh talents whom they can introduce to the US and UK market, and when they chanced upon Charice's video on YouTube wherein she was pit in a face off against Bianca Ryan, a finalist in America's Got Talent, they immediately called Star Records to ask Charice for a recording stint. At the moment, the demo recording will be used in searching for more original materials that will be fit for Charice and will appeal to the US and UK listeners' taste. By then, Ten Songs Productions plans to release the songs and the entire album digitally, now a popular trend in the music industry across Europe and the US. Hopeful that the line up of songs will be completed, Charice and Ms. Annabelle were asked by Ten Songs Production and Extensive Talent Management if they can come back to Stockholm late this year so they could work on the promotion and marketing of Charice and her album. |
