Kitchie Nadal still has good words for Pinoy Dream Academy Scholar Van
By Napoleon Quintos
Last Saturday’s Pinoy Dream Academy Gala Night was one of the brightest so far with the best OPM performers singing duets with the scholars. Among the guest performers were Vina Morales, Jed Madela, Rachel Alejandro, Richard Poon, Sheryn Regis, Joey Generoso, Bituin Escalante, and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers. Singer-songwriter Kitchie Nadal performed her famous song Bulong alongside Van Pojas, the heartthrob scholar from Cebu. But in spite winning cheers from the crowd, Van’s performance earned the second to the lowest grade from the jurors placing him this week under probation against his Academy best bud Sen Nichols.
ABS-CBN.com asked Kitchie about their performance during her music video shoot for the theme song of the upcoming teleserye Humingi Ako Sa Langit. Despite the performance turn out, Kitchie still has good words for Van. “He blends well naman especially when we were practicing. Mukha ngang mas okay pa yung practice namin kaysa sa actual performance. Nagkalito-lito na ‘yata siya afterwards, kinabahan siguro.” she said.
PDA’s media performance teacher Direk Joey Reyes was enraged with Van’s number. In the director’s words, the scholar moved around too much like he was measuring the stage. In his attempt to feel the rock tempo of the song, Van made a back-up singer out of Kitchie, in Direk Joey’s opinion, which was very disrespectful. Kitchie though, took no offense in what her partner did. “Everything he did on stage na-dictate lang naman sa kanya. Sometimes people only suggest, but it is still up to you as the performer to execute. Siguro he could have pulled the performance off better.” Kitchie revealed.
Nevertheless, the pop rock princess commended Van for trying his best to make their rock number a stand out among the other mellow ballad performances during that gala night. Kitchie added that she looks forward to working with Van again.
Watch out for Kitchie and Marc Abaya’s version of the Rivermaya hit Himala as the theme song for the next teleserye of Judy Ann Santos, Humingi Ako Sa Langit. Also get a copy of Kitchie’s latest album Love Letter featuring 17 all original tracks. Catch the Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Gala Night after Komiks presents Mars Ravelo’s Varga to see who between Van and Sen will complete the Honor Roll of Six.
