International singing sensation Charice Pempengco portrays her difficult journey to success this Saturday on Maalaala Mo Kaya. Fame did not come on a silver platter to this sixteen-year-old girl who thought of giving up her love for music many times before. Growing up in a broken family, her mom Racquel was the only one who gave her the unwavering support she needed to go on. Her mother encouraged her to showcase her flair for singing in countless competitions whether big or small.
When she was able to pass the auditions for Little Big Star hosted by her idol Sarah Geronimo on ABS-CBN, Charice knew that she is getting a step closer to her dreams. Finishing a mere third in the said kiddie singing contest however had been a great disappointment to her. But through the help of an avid fan who uploaded her music videos on the web, Charice’s singing career finally skyrocketed and the rest as they say is history. Now she’s not only well-known in the country but even around the globe with her much-talked about appearances on The Ellen de Generes Show, The Paul O’Grady Show, and Oprah.
Join Charice as she recounts her inspiring tale of faith, hard work, and sacrifice on MMK together with no less than Ms. Zsa-Zsa Padilla portraying the role of her mother. The cast also includes Neil Sese, Rhap Salazar, Sharlene San Pedro, and Madz Nicholas. Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, don’t miss MMK’s inspiring episode this Saturday right after Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2
