Though Angel Locsin is certainly not a newbie when it comes to acting, she reveals that it took her stint on Lobo to make her really proud of herself for the first time. She was practically glowing with happiness as she expressed her gratitude to the people who imparted such huge legacy to her through the show.
"Ako sobrang thankful ako sa mga writers, sa direktor namin—Direk FM Reyes, Direk Jerry Lopez-Sineneng, Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina—maraming salamat po. Ibang experience po talaga ito, madami akong natutunan. Si Piolo (Pascual) magaling na artista na, pero ako, masasabi kong masaya ako. Ngayon lang ako naging proud sa sarili ko."
As Lobo draws to its conclusion this week, Angel is overcome with mixed feelings since she’s glad for a job well done but is sad to miss the extraordinary bond she has shared with the whole production staff. Down-to-earth as always, she is full of praises for the people who have made the show as beautiful and successful as it is.
"Andyan yung masaya ako na matatapos na yung show namin na masasabi kong maipagmamalaki ko pa after 10 years kapag nagka-anak na ako. Maipagmamalaki ko rin yung lahat ng bumuo ng Lobo, hindi lang mga artista. Kasi iba yung sipag, iba yung dedikasyon nila sa trabaho. Malungkot din ako kasi hindi ko alam kung magkakaroon pa ng chance na makatrabaho ko ulit yung kapwa artista ko na lahat professional, lahat makukulit. Lahat kami may mga topak so lahat kami nagdya-jive. Kaya walang bad trip sa show."
Angel’s passion for her craft is simply obvious with the way she values not only her own work, but including those of the ones around her. Even Piolo commends her for her "willingness to go the extra mile… Just because she respects the character and the story."
But her detractors never seem to run out of criticisms and negative issues to throw against her. One latest things being brought up is the negative feedback on her sexy ads for a clothing line. Despite such intrigues, Angel refuses to be beaten, knowing that she hasn’t done anything wrong.
"Tanggap ko kung anong opinyon nila. Pero ako bilang isang babae at isang miyembro ng Gabriela, alam ko kung ano ang nakaka-degrade sa babae. Alam ko kung ano ang dapat at hindi dapat. So nakita ko naman yung ad, wala naman akong pinakita, likod nga lang talaga. Pero wala namang maseselan na bahagi na nandun. Hindi ko naman hahayaan na mabastos ako o bumaba ang tingin sa kapwa babae ko."
Piolo also reacts on that particular issue about Angel, "It’s a testament to what I was just saying na that’s how much she respects her craft. That’s something that people don’t really see when it comes to expressing your beauty. And Angel definitely has it and she knows how to show it in a respectful manner."
