During her stint as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus, Valerie Weignmann managed to gain fans not just in the Philippines, but also in Germany where she grew up. The half-German beauty gained fame when a journalist named Jens Wiesner learned that a German girl was a Big Brother housemate in the Philippines. Wiesner later published a story about Valerie in the German newspaper Spiegel. News about Valerie then quickly spread, with a major German TV network later contacting PBB management to ask if Valerie could guest on a show.
It was only after she was evicted did Valerie learn of her popularity in Germany from her mother who told her via a long distance call. Valerie also felt proud when she was told that her best friend and her sister in Germany were interviewed on television. This 18-year-old lass has often been compared to Anne Curtis to whom she has more than a passing resemblance. Valerie has confessed that she’s a big fan of Anne whom she watched in Maging Sino Ka Man and Kampanerang Kuba on TFC in Germany. The former housemate also revealed how she likes Anne’s beauty and bubbly personality. After her eviction, Valerie got an unexpected encounter with her idol, Anne, when PBB host Luis Manzano approached her and handed her a cellphone. Valerie was surprised to hear Anne on the other end of the line. "Wow! I couldn’t believe it. I said ‘I’m Valerie,’ and she told me I’m so pretty. But I told her, ‘No, you’re so pretty!’" Valerie gushed as she recalled her phone conversation with Anne. After PBB, Valerie plans to stay in the Philippines and is open to a possible showbiz career. Valerie is also looking forward to discovering her Filipino roots. "I like the warm welcome of the people. Everyone is always happy, hindi nila gusto na malungkot. Life may be malungkot but they try their best to be masaya. That’s why I’m so proud to be a Filipina." |
